Dr. Fraser Dalgleish from ÌÇÐÄVlog Harbor Branch's Ocean Visibility and Optics Lab (OVOL) is in La Spezia, Italy for 10 weeks as a visiting researcher with the Environmental Knowledge and Operational Effectiveness group at the NATO Science and Technology Organization (Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation). OVOL scientists are collaborating with NATO oceanographers in developing hardware designs, calibration methodologies and computationally efficient inversion algorithms for autonomous LiDAR sensors, a potential game-changing technology for real-time assessment of critical water column optical properties during certain military operations. He returns to HBOI later this month.
